What is Back Booth?
Backbooth is the online home of Minneapolitan* editor and writer Eli Effinger-Weintraub.
I am a freelance copy editor and proofreader with expertise in nonfiction and fiction (speculative fiction a specialty), long- and short-form. I have edited for the Minnesota State Legislature, Do It Green! Minnesota, AQS Management Systems, and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota. Please email me to discuss your editing needs.
I am writer of prose fiction, playwriting, creative nonfiction, and spoken-word memoir. I’ve written for the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Theatre Unbound, Patrick’s Cabaret, Seal Press, Alyson Books, and Witches & Pagans magazine. I’m a green writer with a special interest in urban cycling and sustainable living. I also love steampunk.
I live in Minneapolis with my wonderful wife, visual artist Leora Effinger-Weintraub, and two buffalo disguised as cats.
Why Back Booth?
There’s a place editors and writers go to when we really believe in the written word. Maybe the rest of the time we despair of ever mattering a damn to anyone, but sometimes we believe our scribbling or our polishing of other people’s scribbling can change the whole freakin’ world, if we can find enough time, enough caffeine, enough solitude, enough booze, enough community. Some places are real; some are only in our heads; but we all have one. The Back Booth is mine.
